Sean Hayes is Executive Director of The Oberlin Project, a joint effort of the City of Oberlin, Oberlin College, and individual and institutional partners to improve the resilience, prosperity, and sustainability of the Oberlin community through development of a robust, vibrant, and local post-carbon economy. 

Prior to joining The Oberlin Project, Sean was the Facilities Manager and Community Outreach Coordinator for Oberlin College's Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies, which was named one of thirty milestone

buildings of the twentieth century by the US Department of Energy. In his first year managing the AJLC, he optimized the building's existing systems, reducing energy consumption by nearly 40%. Sean is a renewable energy specialist with particular interest and expertise in waste-to-energy systems and distributed energy generation. 

 
Mr. Hayes holds a Master of Science in Technology from Appalachian State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wabash College. Outside of work, Sean enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, brewing beer, getting outdoors, and fixing broken things.
